Thank you Alex Conway (Class of 2004) for giving back to Radford College students

On Tuesday 29th August, Alex Conway returned to the College to give a talk to Year 10 and 11 students about the types of violence experienced in our community and some points to assist in eliminating them.
Alex works for White Ribbon Australia and he travelled to Canberra from Adelaide to have a talk with the Year 10 and 11 students on the types of violence experienced within our society.
Alex shared the panel with other leaders in this field.
Some of the points shared by Alex in the session were:
- 1 in 3 women have experienced violence by a current or former partner.
- There are different types of abuse, from violence to financial abuse and coercive control.
- Abuse can start with sexist language.
- Alex brought some books on identifying domestic violence and business cards with QR codes to important online resources for students to have.
- One of the more recently identified types of abuse is coercive control and gaslighting. Coercive control has been outlawed in QLD.
- The role of men in preventing family violence – men can pull up friends and brothers when they notice something.
