Class of 2015 Blake Macdonald’s Breakout Big Bash League Debut
Radford College proudly celebrates Collegian Blake Macdonald (Class of 2015) after an eye-catching Big Bash League (BBL) debut for the Melbourne Stars that had cricket fans and legends buzzing. A late inclusion in the Stars’ squad, the Canberra-grown allrounder seized his opportunity at the Gabba, blasting a remarkable 37 not out from just 12 balls — the fastest such score in Stars history.
Coming to the crease with the Stars under pressure at 6–139, Macdonald’s explosive hitting transformed the innings. His 58-run partnership with Hilton Cartwright set Brisbane a challenging target and showcased the power and creativity that earned praise from commentary great Adam Gilchrist, who described his batting as “power personified”.

The son of former ACT Comets player Darryle Macdonald, Blake has built his game through Canberra, Sydney, NSW and now Victoria, with recent Sheffield Shield centuries underlining his form. His long-awaited BBL call-up capped a “crazy week” and marked a memorable moment on the national stage — one Radford College is thrilled to share with its community.
