Myles has a very interesting background that has seen him running a liquor shop, working in day care services, managing storage solutions, building joinery for galleries, painting ceilings, drafting architectural solutions, yacht building, setting up NewActon café Mocan & Green Grout with a partner and, of course, setting up his bike workshop and custom bike store Goodspeed.

Myles Chandler (Class of 2000) from  Goodspeed BicycleCo. designs and builds bicycles in Canberra and is an owner of NewActon café Mocan & Green Grout.

HerCanberra describes Myles’ space to “look somewhat like a hybrid between a mini lounge room and a timber workshop”. There is actually good reason for this; he designed and built the whole space himself. In fact, Myles is an industrial designer by qualification and previously designed yachts in Monaco.

Myles has a very interesting background that has also seen him running a liquor shop, working in day care services, managing storage solutions, building joinery for galleries, painting ceilings, drafting architectural solutions, setting up NewActon café Mocan & Green Grout with a partner and, of course, setting up his bike workshop and custom bike store Goodspeed.

The RiotACT reports that:

“Myles said that when a group of friends got together and said hey, it’s hard to find a place where we can get on our bikes and share some time. When this message keeps repeating itself, consistently, over and over, it is likely there is something missing. So they created Mocan and Green Grout, a simple 13-square metre espresso bar.

What happened at Mocan and Green Grout was simply astounding. Mocan and Green Grout tripled in size. Growing from being a corner espresso bar to a full-service café during the day and restaurant at night.

Opportunity or distraction is one of the hardest business issues to deal with. What drove the guys at Goodspeed to conclude a café was an opportunity was the fact it brought them closer to their goal. A goal of creating a new experience in a new precinct, New Acton, driving a cultural change.”

Eddie Senatore from the RIOTACT discusses the following concept with Myles:

Can a Canberra-based business take on the biggest bicycle manufacturers in the world?  Myles from Goodspeed thinks so. This is his story of passion, persistence, and opportunity.
