Introducing our 2023 Collegian Captains

Posted 22 Feb, 2023

We are excited to share that Evelyn Toyne and Kaitlyn Quade have been announced our 2023 Collegian Captains.

Each year, Radford College selects two students to represent the Collegians. The captains are responsible for being the point of contact for all year group matters, engaging the cohort in collegian activities and events, attending our yearly reunions and be their year group ambassador following graduation to continue the connection with Radford.

We look forward to working with Evelyn and Kaitlyn this year.

Eveylyn’s Q&A

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

The biggest lesson I have learnt would be learning to play music, it is very enjoyable, good for your brain and therapeutic.

What was the best day of the past week for you – why?

The best day for me was on Tuesday – I came home with a lot of energy and was so productive.

If you could spend one week with a person you admire

I would like to spend a week with Dolly Parton, she has been a source of inspiration throughout my life, and I admire her greatly.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I’d like to be most of my way through a degree, perhaps in something around International Relations.

Kaitlyn’s Q&A

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve learned?

That making mistakes is OK. Making mistakes is essential to learning; they shouldn’t be viewed as a weakness but rather as an opportunity to improve.

What was the best day of the past week for you – why?

Definitely a Saturday. After a long week of school, Saturdays are perhaps the greatest day of the week since you can finally sleep in and unwind. I truly love Saturdays because that’s when I get to spend time with my family.

If you could spend one week with a person you admire, who would it be – why?

Since there are so many highly influential individuals in today’s society, I really had to give this question some serious thought. Nonetheless, Jessica Mauboy would have to get my pick because of how contagious her joy and light-heartedness is. She has always been a supporter of women’s rights and has a powerful voice both nationally and internationally. She upholds strong communal values and never loses sight of her roots. She undoubtedly holds lots of wisdom and doesn’t take herself too seriously. Spending a week with her would be invaluable.

Where do you see yourself in 5 years’ time?

I definitely see myself in the midst of the bustle of a huge city like Melbourne and I hope to be completing my university degree. Most of all, I just envision me enjoying my life happily and independently, taking advantage of every opportunity that comes my way, and loving what life throws at me.

Where are you now?
