On Monday, 6 November, Radford College Teacher, Mrs Sue Hassall, was at Government House to receive a Medal of Recognition for Long Service during The Duke of Edinburgh’s Gold Award Ceremony.
His Excellency, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presented Mrs Hassall with the medal for her outstanding commitment and contribution to promoting non-formal education and learning and the development of young Australians since 2013 through running The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Radford.
In the ten years since Mrs Hassall became an Award Leader, The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has grown from seven students to more than 150 students at Radford. Mrs Hassall has been central to the Award’s success from the beginning, from organising Adventurous Journeys for all three Award levels, to personally assisting students in sourcing programs for their Sport and Voluntary Service sections and Skills activities. Radford now has a whole-College approach to The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, consisting of Adventurous Journeys for all students in Years 9 and 10. This significant achievement is due to Mrs Hassall’s ongoing passion and dedication to the Award as a Leader and Coordinator and to the development and growth of young people as they undertake their Award.
Congratulations Mrs Hassall and thank you for all the hard work you have put into The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award at Radford College.
