From Courage to Connection: Radford Collegian Alexandra Edmondson (Class 2008) Finds Love

Posted 11 Mar, 2026

The Radford community is delighted to share uplifting news about Alexandra “Lexi” Edmondson (Class of 2008), whose compassion and courage during a tragic event in Sydney has led to an unexpected and joyful new chapter in her life.

Lexi was among the first responders who stepped forward to assist victims during the tragedy at Bondi Beach. In the midst of the distressing situation, she and fellow first responder James McIntosh provided support and care to those affected, demonstrating extraordinary calm, humanity and selflessness.

Remarkably, the pair had only recently completed an eight-week surf lifesaving course together before the incident occurred. Having become acquainted during the course, Lexi, James and a friend were on their way to the Bondi Surf Club Christmas celebration when events unfolded and they instinctively stepped forward to help.

In the months that followed, the shared experience deepened their connection. What began as a chance meeting through surf lifesaving training has grown into something much more meaningful. Lexi and James have since found love and are now engaged to be married later this year.

Their story is a powerful reminder that even in the most difficult circumstances, courage, compassion and human connection can shine through. The Radford community is incredibly proud of Lexi and the care she showed others during such a challenging moment.

We extend our warmest congratulations to Lexi and James and wish them every happiness as they prepare for their wedding and the exciting future ahead.
