What does life look for you now?
I work as a management consultant for Synergy Group, a Canberra-based consultancy that specialises in the Australian Government. I co-lead a team of about 50 talented professionals, and I love the people that I work with.
I live in southern Canberra with my beautiful wife (also a Radford Collegian) and 3 inspirational children. I spend my weekends cooking for family and friends, enjoying the Canberra fresh air, and driving my kids to all kinds of social and sporting events.
I started playing bass guitar while I was at Radford, and still play whenever I can.
When you were young, what were you hoping to be when you grew up?
I was absolutely convinced that I was going to be a software developer. It didn't work out like that at all!
How easy was it to decide what to do in life?
Impossible! There are limitless options, and life has a way of throwing up all kinds of changes and surprises. It can be useful to have some kind of goal or direction, but as they say, 'life is what happens while you're making other plans'.
What advice do you have for current students?
Work on your soft skills. Technical competence is a good foundation, but much of life is about getting along productively with other people. Learning to communicate, empathise and collaborate is extremely valuable!
