Celebrating love stories that began at Radford College

Celebrating love stories that began at Radford College

Posted 13 Feb, 2025

At Radford, we don’t just build futures—we build love stories. Here are two beautiful tales of collegians who met here, fell in love, and created lives full of memories together.

Scott and Alex Wrigley (Class of 2006)

Life has a way of writing the most beautiful stories, and Scott and Alex’s began right here at Radford. It’s where they met, where people call them ‘high school sweethearts,’ and where they spent their time hanging out in the senior common room as teenagers, falling in love. Years later, Radford became the place where they said, “I do,” turning the school into the perfect and most meaningful wedding venue.

And now, life has brought them a full circle moment as their eldest child has commenced their own Radford journey, beginning Pre-Kindergarten in 2025. Alex and Scott shared that as they watched her walk through the doors of the Browning Early Learning Centre, it felt like we were coming home.  From young love to marriage to parenthood—this school isn’t just a place. It’s a part of our family’s story they shared.

Chris and Claire Osborne (Class of 1999)

Chris was the clever, nerdy and sporty guy who always had the answers, and Claire was the fun, social student who loved life and her friends. They had a few classes together, and Chris often helped Claire with her maths—actually, he helped everyone, he was always willing to lend a hand. At parties, Chris’ idea of flirting was flicking bottle tops at Claire’s head, always missing. “Is that really how you get a girl’s attention?” she’d joke. But somehow, it worked.

Just when sparks could have turned into something more, Claire was off to England for her gap year, and any chance of a relationship was put on hold. But fate had a plan. Chris was on the Radford England soccer trip, and they met up in London. One phone call later, Chris had informed his parents that he was not returning to Canberra just yet— “send money, please!” Chris tried to impress Claire by whisking her away to Paris for lunch, but their adventure hit a snag when they could not get out of Dover. Instead, they laughed it off and enjoyed a meal at a French restaurant there.

Whilst Claire remained overseas and Chris returned home to Canberra, their connection only grew stronger. Every Sunday night, they would talk for up to three hours using a phone card, catching up on everything they missed during the week. Back home, Chris even tutored Claire’s sister—an act that some would say was his way of staying close, like a bad smell that you just could not shake. But it worked. By the time Claire returned home, their relationship was back on, and the rest, as they say, is history.

These stories are just a few of the many love stories that began within the walls of Radford. From classrooms to soccer fields, from study sessions to spontaneous adventures, love can find us in the most unexpected places.

We are so proud to be part of these beautiful journeys.
