Buddy Program: Enhancing Connection, Enriching Futures
The Collegian and Year 11 & 12 Buddy Program is designed to connect current Year 11 and 12 students with collegian mentors who can provide guidance, support, and motivation during their final years of school. This initiative aims to foster a strong sense of community, enhance student well-being, and provide valuable insights into post-school opportunities.

Objectives
Mentorship & Support – Offer Year 11 & 12 students a mentor who has recently navigated the transition from school to further education, work, or other pathways.
Networking Opportunities – Strengthen relationships between current students and collegians, building a lifelong connection with the school community
Career & Academic Guidance – Provide practical advice on study techniques, career pathways, and post-school life.
Well-being & Motivation – Encourage positive mental health by having an experienced mentor to share challenges, tips, and encouragement.
Program Structure
Pairing Process:
• Interested Year 11 and 12 students and collegians will complete an expression of interest form.
• Pairings will be based on shared interests, career aspirations, and academic pathways.
• Mentors from diverse backgrounds and fields will be encouraged to participate.
• Mentors must hold a Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) card.
Mentorship Activities:
• Regular Check-ins: Monthly catchups via phone, email, video call, or in person.
• Career & Study Workshops: Organised sessions where mentors share experiences and insights (Life after Radford panels) Year 11 Life after Radford panel discussion is scheduled for 23 September 2025.
• Mock Interviews & Resume Reviews: Mentors provide feedback on university/job applications.
Support & Resources:
• A dedicated program coordinator to facilitate and support mentorship pairs.
• Guidelines and conversation starters to assist mentors and mentees.
Implementation Timeline
Term 1: Launch program, promote to Year 11 & 12 students and collegians, collect expressions of interest.
Term 2: Match pairs and host an introductory meet-up.
Term 3: Mid-year check-in and career workshop.
Term 4: Celebration event and evaluation of the program for future improvements.
