Jo Clay (Class of 1994) appointed Leader of the ACT Greens
The Radford Collegian community congratulates alumna Jo Clay (Class of 1994) on her appointment as Leader of the ACT Greens, marking an important milestone in her career of public service, environmental advocacy and community leadership.
Ms Clay, Member for Ginninderra in the ACT Legislative Assembly since 2020, was elected as ACT Greens leader by party members following the retirement of long-serving leader Shane Rattenbury. She had been serving as interim leader before being formally elected to the position.
A proud Canberran, Jo attended Radford College before pursuing studies in law and the creative arts. Prior to entering politics, she built a diverse career spanning environmental initiatives, recycling enterprises, community engagement and advocacy for practical climate solutions.
Since entering the ACT Legislative Assembly, Ms Clay has become a prominent voice on environmental protection, planning, sustainability and community issues. As leader, she will guide the ACT Greens while continuing to contribute to discussions on housing affordability, climate action and cost-of-living challenges facing the Canberra community.
Jo’s appointment reflects the values of leadership, innovation and service that are fostered within the Radford community. Her journey from Radford student to political leader demonstrates the many ways Collegians contribute to public life and help shape the future of Canberra.
