What does life look for you now?
Working at Lifeline Australia overseeing national crisis services policies and practice, and in private practice as a Clinical Psychologist, still living in Canberra, married. Graduated with a PhD in 2016. Love travel and passionate about improving mental health services through innovative technologies.
Do you have a particular role model or inspirational figure from Radford or now?
Ms Van Strein - she made me love science and let me feel success in something I had really struggled in previously. She made learning fun and I took that love throughout uni.
How easy was it to decide what to do in life?
I never 'set out' to get where I am, and I still don't know what I want to do in life - I just went to uni, found something I enjoyed, worked hard and kept saying yes to new opportunities. Thats what I now do in my career and I love what I am doing as it is always new and exciting. I have no idea what will present itself next.
Did your further study or career go exactly as you'd planned?
I never planned to do a PhD but I ended up loving uni and just stuck around!
What do you know now, that you wish you'd known when you were at Radford?
There is no need to stress, hard work pays off eventually.
What advice do you have for current students?
Travel, work hard and enjoy life. Try to stay ahead of deadlines as this allows you to say yes to new and different opportunities - you never know where these can lead you!
